What We Do
ESReDA is a European Association provides a forum for the exchange of information, data and current research in Safety and Reliability and a focus for specialist expertise. The Safety and Reliability of processes and products are topics which are the focus of increasing interest Europe wide. Safety and Reliability Engineering is viewed as being an important component in the design of a system. However the discipline and its tools and methods are still evolving and expertise and knowledge dispersed throughout Europe. There is a need to pool the resources and knowledge within Europe and ESReDA provides the means to achieve this.

Project Groups
ESReDA Project Groups are expert-driven collaborations focused on advancing research and practice in safety, reliability, risk, resilience and data-driven digital transformation. They bring together professionals from industry, academia and public institutions to develop methods, share knowledge and produce high-quality technical outcomes addressing complex socio-technical systems.
Participation is open to experts beyond ESReDA who wish to contribute their experience and expertise to ongoing and future Project Groups.
Artificial Intelligence in Safety and Security
This ESReDA Project Group focuses on understanding how artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies can support safety and security across complex socio-technical systems. It examines their contribution to risk prevention, safety assurance and protection frameworks, as well as the challenges and vulnerabilities they may introduce. The group aims to assess the practical value, limitations and implications of AI-based approaches to support informed decision-making in safety and security management.
Digital Maintenance and Asset Digitalization
The ESReDA Project Group on Digital Maintenance and Asset Digitalization focuses on the transformation of maintenance and asset management through digital technologies. It addresses how data, models and digital twins can be effectively integrated to improve reliability, performance and lifecycle value of assets. The group promotes cross-disciplinary approaches that connect engineering, data analytics and management to support informed decision-making across the asset lifecycle.
Resilience Assessment of Critical Infrastructures
This ESReDA Project Group focuses on advancing quantitative approaches to assess the resilience of critical infrastructures under complex and uncertain conditions. It promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration and the transfer of proven methods across infrastructure domains, addressing emerging threats, global change and NaTech scenarios. The group aims to support informed management decisions by integrating resilience assessment with investment and maintenance strategies.
